Where are all my country and rustic style crafters?! This wreath I am making is a great way to make your home look stylish and festive for this hunting season. If you are looking for an inexpensive but beautiful piece then this Deer Head Wreath Rail is just what you need! This can also double as a reindeer wreath rail, if you are wanting a more traditional Christmas theme you can follow the steps with your own decor!

How to Decorate a Deer Head Wreath Rail

Let’s get to it!

You will notice I have a not so little helper in my craft room. I brought in my amazing husband Richard in and handed him the reins, I wanted to put my teaching skills to the text along with a little fun for him and I. He is going step by step with my instructions in this tutorial video- with that said if you are looking for a sweet and simple tutorial this is the one to follow!

Materials for Christmas Deer Head Wreath:

Instructions to make your wreath rail:

  1. Take 5 pipe cleaners and put them evenly in the middle of your wreath rail. 
  2. Take your 10” Deco Mesh and start at one end of your wreath rail and make one ruffle and without cutting continue this through all of the pipe cleaners. 
  3. Cut 5- 14” ribbon tails. Fold the tails in half and pinch the center together. Attach the center pinch to a twist tie on the wreath frame. Repeat with the remaining ribbon tails and twist ties. Spread out your center tails in Xs and then Ks at both ends. 
  4. Next cut 5- 14” ribbon tails. Fold the tails in half and pinch the center together. Attach the center pinch to a twist tie on the wreath frame. Spread out your center tails in Xs and then Ks at both ends. 
  5. Then add in your tubing. Take two different color tubing, and pinch them together like a bow and twist them in the middle of your pipe cleaners. 
  6. With your EZ Bow Maker and your ribbons we are going to make a bow! Start with a 1.5” ribbon, measure a 10” tail, twist the ribbon and then add it to the bow-maker. Then make a 6” loop, twist, add it to the bow-maker. Make another loop on the other side then trim after a 10” tail.
  7. Use another 1.5 ” ribbon, to repeat the same process making four loops this time and make your loops a little smaller this time.
  8. Then use a .5” ribbon to make 4 loops using the same process and then again with another .5” ribbon.
  9. Take two pipe cleaners and twist the ends together to make one long pipe cleaner. Remove your bow from the bow maker and use the long pipe cleaner to secure the center of the bow twisting it off at the back.
  10. Use the pipe cleaners on the bow to push through the mesh and attach the bow to the wreath rail.

How do you display a wreath rail?

On the top of all of my wreath rails there is a small hole, you put a piece of jute string or even a zip tie to put through the hole. You can either hang it from a door hanger or something like a command strip to display your wreath.

Learn how you can make a Christmas deer head wreath rail with this simple tutorial.

Supplies

Directions

  • Take 5 pipe cleaners and put them evenly in the middle of your wreath rail. 
  • Take your 10” Black Deco Mesh and start at one end of your wreath rail and make one ruffle and without cutting continue this through all of the pipe cleaners. 
  • Cut 5- 14” ribbon tails of the Brown Burlap. Fold the tails in half and pinch the center together. Attach the center pinch to a twist tie on the wreath frame. Repeat with the remaining ribbon tails and twist ties. Spread out your center tails in Xs and then Ks at both ends. 
  • Next cut 5- 14” ribbon tails of the Gold Deer Head ribbon. Fold the tails in half and pinch the center together. Attach the center pinch to a twist tie on the wreath frame. Spread out your center tails in Xs and then Ks at both ends. 
  • Then add in your tubing. Take two different color tubing, the gold and the green and pinch them together like a bow and twist them in the middle of your pipe cleaners. 
  • With your EZ Bow Maker and your ribbons we are going to make a bow! Start with a 1.5” ribbon, the Gold Deer Head, measure a 10” tail, twist the ribbon and then add it to the bow-maker. Then make a 6” loop, twist, add it to the bow-maker. Make another loop on the other side then trim after a 10” tail.
  • Use another 1.5 ” ribbon, the Brown Burlap, to repeat the same process making four loops this time and make your loops a little smaller this time.
  • Then use a .5” ribbon, the Camo Ribbon, to make 4 loops using the same process and then again with another .5” ribbon, the black ribbon.
  • Take two pipe cleaners and twist the ends together to make one long pipe cleaner. Remove your bow from the bow maker and use the long pipe cleaner to secure the center of the bow twisting it off at the back.
  • Use the pipe cleaners on the bow to push through the mesh and attach the bow to the wreath rail.
