Hands down, one of my favorite things about fall is celebrating Thanksgiving. To get into the thanksgiving spirit, I will be painting a Thanksgiving pilgrim gnome that will be a perfect edition to your fall home decor!
Thanksgiving is a holiday all about celebrating those we love and the things that we are thankful for. In our family, gratitude is on the menu every day of the year, but there is something so beautiful about a day that is centered around it. I love the food; I love the gratitude, but I also love the decor! I’m painting a Thanksgiving pilgrim gnome wood cutout to help give you a jump on your holiday decorations.
Thanksgiving Pilgrim Gnome Wood Cutout | A Paint-By-Line Tutorial
The holiday season this year will probably look different than any we’ve experienced in the past. Not everyone will be able to gather in the large groups they are used to and bouncing from home to home may not be in the cards. That doesn’t mean that we can’t celebrate with amazing food and fabulous decorations! I’m not missing out on the pumpkin pies and Thanksgiving wreaths, you guys. And… I still have so much to be grateful for! We will definitely still be celebrating our gratitude.
This little gnome is the perfect addition to your fall wreaths. He’s super easy to attach to a deco mesh or grapevine wreath. You know that I love to make a big and beautiful deco mesh wreath! However, with fall and Thanksgiving being all about harvest and beautiful foliage, this adorable guy would fit perfectly on a more natural wreath.
In the video, I paint the gnome and leave it there. You could definitely keep going with him though! You could use modge podge to add glitter to his boots, buckles, or beard. You could also add shading and more defining details. I show you how to paint him but you can let your imagination take it from there! There are so many fun ways to make this project your own.
Thanksgiving Pilgrim Gnome Supplies
- Pilgrim gnome wood cut out
- Paint brushes
- Nutmeg brown acrylic paint
- Black (or granite gray) acrylic paint
- Light gray acrylic paint
- Gold acrylic paint
- Sunkissed peach (or your preferred skin tone) acrylic paint
- Black acrylic paint marker
Paint by Line Instructions
- Start by painting the hat and jacket nutmeg brown. (This may need 2 coats)
- Next, Paint the beard light gray.
- Paint the hands and face peach, you will need 2 coats.
- Paint the belt and boots black, then the belt on the hat.
- Use the gold to paint both buckles.
- Finally, use the black paint marker to outline everything. This will give your gnome a more finished look and cover up any oopses.
This little Thanksgiving pilgrim gnome is so stinking cute! I love the way he came out. I can’t wait for him to find his home on a fabulous fall wreath.
