Supplies

Directions

  • Attach your jester rail kit together using gold zip ties.
  • Attach a cable tie mount to the back of the top of your jester hat.
  • Add 3 ties down the middle of your rail.
  • Cut 1 x 20” strips of each color mesh.
  • Then you’re going to take your strips of deco mesh to make a ruffle for every twist tie. To do this, you are going to roll up the edges a little bit and then scrunch it up the center.
  • Using 3 your 3 different ribbons, cut 3 strips of each ribbon.
  • Once you have your 3 pieces of all three ribbons you will trim the ends of the tails on the ribbons in an angle or dovetail.
  • Then you will get one piece of each ribbon, layer them, fold them in half and pinch the center together. Attach the center pinch to the first twist tie on the wreath rail. Repeat with the remaining ribbon tails and twist ties.
  • Spread out your center tails in Xs and then Ks at both ends.
  • To add some texture and bring out all of the colors to your design, start by cutting 2 strips of each color tubing , take three pieces and make it into a lasso. Pinch the middle to make a bow, lay it down straight on the top twist tie and twist it in. Repeat this to the bottom twist tie and leave the middle twist tie because you are going to leave it open for your bow.
  • Now a bow! Start with a 2.5” Black and White checkered ribbon, measure out a 12” tail on your board, pinch, twist and put it on your spool board. Then make a 6” loop by measuring from the edge to the middle of the board and then twist. Make two loops on either side then trim after a 12” tail.
  • Next add the multi-colored metallic ribbon, measure out a 12” tail on your board, pinch, twist and put it on your spool board. Then make a 6” loop by measuring from the edge to the middle of the board and then twist. Make two loops on either side then trim after a 12” tail.
  • Next add the gold polka dot ribbon, measure out a 12” tail on your board, pinch, twist and put it on your spool board. Then make a 6” loop by measuring from the edge to the middle of the board and then twist. Make two loops on either side then trim after a 12” tail.
  • Next add the green ribbon, measure out a 12” tail on your board, pinch, twist and put it on your spool board. Then make a 6” loop by measuring from the edge to the middle of the board and then twist. Make a loop on the other side then trim after a 12” tail.
  • Take two pipe cleaners and twist the ends together to make one long pipe cleaner. Use the long pipe cleaner to secure the center of the bow together, twisting it off at the back making sure it is nice and tight.
  • Use the pipe cleaners on the bow to attach the bow to the middle twist tie on the wreath rail.
  • Fluff out your bow and cut your tails on an angle or dovetail.
  • Attach your fleur de lis sign to the middle of your bow using pipe cleaners.
  • Use a zip tie to create a loop at the top of your wreath to be able to hang it.
