DIY Cupid Valentine Wreath Rail Kit

It’s that time again friends, time to get out all your pink and red ribbons and start crafting for Valentine’s Day! Today I’m showing you how to make an adorable DIY Cupid Valentine Rail and I know you’re going to love it.

When the Christmas decorations come down, I start looking around for what I can hang on my door next. Today’s project is a DIY Cupid Valentine wreath rail that makes Cupid a star. I am loving how cute this guy is and can’t wait for him to find his home on our front door!

When I painted this rail, I added some black to the red and pink. To balance out my colors, I use a fabulous black and white harlequin ribbon for my tails and bow and some black tubing. The result is a sweet rail with lots of variety in its colors and textures! As with all our rails, you can snag this one already painted or order it blank and paint it yourself. However you choose to do this one I think you’re going to love it!

DIY Cupid Valentine Rail

Alright friends, Richard and I have a confession. We are tired. We know you other parents are too. We love our children more than anything in the world but sometimes they are just exhausting. I say that because I want you to know that you aren’t alone. I also want to remind you that taking a little bit of time for yourself is really important. Whether it’s a quiet place with a book, a walk by yourself, or some time spent in your crazy craft room, make sure you take a few minutes each day to decompress. If you are looking for a fun craft project that will bring a smile to your face, you know I always have you covered!

This Valentine Cupid wreath rail is a little different from our traditional wreath rail design. It comes in four pieces that can easily be attached using zip ties. This is so fun because it means you can have your Cupid pointing either way you want him. If you have double doors you could even make two and have them facing each other! How cute would that be? Cupid’s bow and arrow are then attached just like you would attach a wreath sign. That gives you the freedom to put it wherever you like. We love to give you guys options and this project definitely has them.

I kept my Cupid rail pretty simple. It’s so cute and I’m really happy with how it turned out. You can definitely make yours as fancy as you like though. Add some lace, some ornament balls, or some Valentine picks and you’ll have even more depth and texture! If you sell your items you could offer your customers a variety of styles that all stem from the same rail base. Just like any craft project, there are a lot of ways you can take this one and they’re all fabulous!

DIY Valentine Rail Supply List

• Cupid Valentine rail set (painted)
• Mounting squares
• Rapid fuse glue
• Zip ties
• Wire cutters
• Pipe cleaners
• 10” mesh, pink
• 3 –1.5” ribbon (black and white harlequin, pink and white stripe, black with pink hears)
• 1.5” jelly ribbon (pink)
• Ribbon tail board
• Tubing (black)

Valentine Cupid Wreath Rail Instructions

1. Start by attaching the mounting squares to each piece of the rail set. Remove the sticky back and put rapid fuse glue on the back before putting it in place then put the glue around each edge.
2. Now use zip ties to attach the cupid legs and head to the bottom and top of the rail. Then trim the ends of the zip ties using wire cutters.
3. Add three pipe cleaners to the center of the wreath rail.
4. Cut 3 30” strips of the pink 10” mesh. Take one and roll the ends a bit then scrunch it towards the center to make a ruffle. Attach the ruffle to one of your pipe cleaners then repeat with the other two strips of mesh and pipe cleaners.
5. Cut 3 14” ribbon tails of each of the 1.5” ribbons.
6. Take one of each type of ribbon tail and place one on top of the other. Fold the tails in half and pinch the center together. Attach the center pinch to a twist tie on the wreath rail frame. Repeat with the remaining ribbon tails and twist ties. Next, fan out your ribbon tails.
7. Cut 3 24” strips of tubing and then loop them and add one to each twist tie.
8. Make a quick hand bow using two of your ribbons and the jelly ribbon. Make a 5” tail and 2 10” loops with the two ribbons then one loop with the jelly ribbon to place on the top of the bow. Use a pipe cleaner to secure it in the center. Add the bow to the top of the rail.
9. Use two pipe cleaners to attach the arrow to the wreath rail by pushing them through the mesh.
10. Add a pipe cleaner to the mounting square on the cupid head and make a hanger with it.

And that’s it friends! This is actually a really simple project. The painting is meditative and it isn’t intricate so it doesn’t take long. Adding all the pretty mesh and bows doesn’t take long either. That makes this project perfect for adding to your own front door or offering for sale on your business page!
